CROSS COUNTRY

TransAmerica - July 09   created: 01/05/2009
24-year-old female planning to leave job as emergency-room nurse to travel, starting with a TransAmerica ride. Tenatively beginning in July and ending September. For me this ride will definitley be more about the journey than the destination. Self supported and mostly camping. Not bare bones but consciously as it's the begining of a long trip. Initially planned to go alone, now decided to see who's out there! If interested in joining me for some or the long haul

Two 24-year-old males are going west to east on the TransAmerica Bicycle Trail. We plan on leaving, by train, from Chicago to Astoria, Oregon on May 25th. We plan on riding 70 miles a day, with a break every seventh day, but we have no set schedule. Near 100 percent camping with some stealth camping. We will be riding self contained. Anyone interested in joining

We are seeking people who would be interested in being involved in bicycle travel to raise support for orphans in Africa and also to raise awareness of how they are affected by the aids issue. We would be raising funds for a Christian humanitarian organization and the trip would be van supported. Address initial inquiries to George at

Coast to Coast - Summer 2009   created: 11/25/2008
48 year-old male planning to ride cross-country, self-contained, direction TBD. Departing approx. May 1, 2009 for three months. Departure date is flexible. Seeking companion(s) to ride with all the way, or maybe during segments along the way. I haven't decided on a final route, so I'm open to planning the details with interested companion(s). At this point, thinking of the TransAm route; Southern Tier looks possible. I expect to mostly camp, with the occassional hotel for weather or mental breaks. 75 miles per day goal is desirable, but definitely not required. Looking to stop and smell the roses along the way.

Northern Tier - East to West 2009   created: 10/27/2008
I'm a 49-year-old male, university professor, planning a self-supported ride of the Northern Tier, east to west, starting in late May 2009. I'm an off-and-on rider. My only other multi-day ride was way back in 1994 when I rode from Lands End to John O'Groats (UK) with three other riders from my running club. That was one of the most memorable adventures of my life and I said then I was going to do the same across the U.S. some day. I would like to average around 100 miles a day ? not real fast riding, but by spending between 8 and 11 hours a day in the saddle. Some camping and some hotels. Planning on taking lots of photos and blogging along the way. This is my "big adventure" before I hit 50 and my wife is very supportive, but she would feel a lot better if I had a riding buddy. If there is anyone else out there who may be interested in joining me or all or part of the ride,

If interested

EUROPE

Spring Adventure - Benelux/France/Spain   created: 12/01/2008
Interested in wandering Western Europe? I plan to get a round-trip flight to Amsterdam and a three-country, five-day Eurail pass, leaving the U.S. around April 15 and returning about the end of May. I am equipped to tour self-supported but will look for places with at least basic bunk, showers, and laundry every few days. If the weather is bad in the north (or wherever I am), I will use the train to move to where the weather looks to be more to my liking. The time and five-day pass should allow pedaling into border regions of Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Portugal if we choose. I?m open to ideas or adjustments. I am well experienced and in excellent health but not wealthy. I?m looking for companions that would consider participating in this adventure. If interested in joining me for all or part
